The Director of Product Management – Security leads a team of Product Managers with the primary responsibilities of defining the product strategy, developing and executing the product roadmap, managing financial growth and profitability, and developing detailed market requirements based for a security portfolio designed for the Federal government. The Director will drive the development and lifecycle management of CenturyLink product portfolios targeted at Federal Government agencies and buyers. The Director will also be responsible for maximizing the competitiveness and financial performance of a product portfolio. This will require advanced technical/industry knowledge and span of control. The position is both deep in content and broad in scope. We are looking for an entrepreneurial product leader to be focused on the customer experience with an ability to understand and translate market opportunities and customer needs into product requirements and product value messaging. This role provides opportunity to make an immediate impact on both our short-term deliverables and long-term strategic goals.
Leads and manages a team of Product Mangers to high performance
Manages all aspects of the portfolio’s financials for growth, revenue, and profitability.
Understands and actively manages all of the levers that impact financials including funnel, usage, opex, netex, capex, credits, pricing, churn, and company accounting practices – the CEO of their business.
Develops and articulates vision and market strategy across the product portfolio. Identifies market direction, what’s important to customers, where technology and features are evolving and where the company can effectively compete.
The Director of Product Management should be viewed as an industry expert in their particular discipline with a broad understanding of the technologies relevant to customers that buy our services including UCC, voice/SIP, layer 2 and layer 3 networking, and security.
Leads the development of new products and product features by understanding the market, writing detailed market and product requirements, developing financial justification, and championing the ask through leadership to market.
Expert in communicating our product capabilities to both internal and external audiences via written and verbal presentations.
Negotiates business terms and conditions of customer contracts. Gathers and prioritizes customer requirements and benchmarks company products to competitor products to evangelize the portfolio roadmap.
Subject matter expert for portfolio including competition, market dynamics, points of differentiation, value proposition, and quote to cash processes.
Leading both a direct team of product professionals as well as matrixed organizations responsible for the development and lifecycle management of a complex product ecosystem that includes IT systems, networks, and 3rd party vendors and partners
Monitors customer and operational metrics for the portfolio and champions development, organizational, and process improvements in quote to cash processes to ensure a market leading customer experience.
Leads the creation and delivery of all product related training across all organizations
Develops and maintains pricing and commercial constructs for product portfolios to maximize growth, profitability, and in line with market dynamics
10-12+ years in industry relevant role
Bachelor's Degree; MBA or advanced degree desired
Experience developing and certifying products for Federal buyers strongly desired
Must have an intermediate understanding of company financial measures and financial modeling
Ability to lead transformation of a business
Problem Solving: Advanced analytical skills.
Must be able to work through complex issues with a methodical approach.
Must be able to understand and distill data into actionable items. Must have advanced data management ability.
Knowledge of cloud, security, UCC, layer 2/3 WAN, voice/SIP and other telecommunications and IT technology
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to distill broad concepts and business strategies into structured product management/marketing plans.
Ability to travel regionally and/or nationally as required
