The Global Messaging Lead for Hybrid IT and Cloud is a strategic, yet hands-on role with the responsibility of creating and successfully executing the go-to-market for CenturyLink’s hybrid cloud and IT message. The ideal candidate for this role is a self-motivated, highly-collaborative individual who will own the creation of a company-wide strategic point of view, compelling and differentiated value proposition, messaging frameworks and assets used to drive customer conversations, marketing campaigns, sales enablement, channel and partner marketing, and alignment of product marketing to the company-wide security message.
Significant experience and expertise in the cloud and enterprise IT domain is a critical requirement. The ideal candidate must have a solid footing in the IT industry with a strong focus on multi-cloud and hybrid cloud environments and be familiar with the evolution of enterprise IT as well as the latest market and customer trends around application and infrastructure management. The role will require partnership with leaders and stakeholders across the company and will necessitate the use of soft-skills including strong communication, negotiation, and consensus-building across diverse stakeholders in product development and marketing, sales, and marketing campaign teams. The role will require extensive message testing through analyst, press and customer briefings as well as qualitative and quantitative research. The messaging lead must also gain a full grasp of CenturyLink’s hybrid cloud solutions portfolio and quickly become a subject matter expert and evangelist.
Message and Value Proposition Creation: Develop differentiated and compelling messaging and value proposition for CenturyLink in the hybrid cloud and IT space. Develop the message frameworks laddering to CenturyLink’s value proposition and message maps allowing solutions and services alignment. Create positioning for CenturyLink’s presence at key stakeholder forums (customer and analyst events, briefings, etc.)
Impactful Marketing Assets and Thought Leadership Content: Create impactful marketing deliverables that enable internal stakeholders (sales, marketing campaigns, product marketing, channel) and external stakeholders (customers, analysts, etc.) to consistently message and speak to CenturyLink’s security point of view. Develop thought leadership platform for cloud/IT space to help generate key content for increased share of voice.
Storytelling, Subject Matter Expertise and Evangelism: Establish brand as a compelling presenter and subject matter expert on CenturyLink’s hybrid cloud portfolio, deliver key messages to customers at executive briefings, events, blogs, and be a go-to resource for security messaging and competencies.
8+ years of technology marketing experience; experience working with complex IT products at the corporate level a plus
8+ years of messaging for IT solutions with a strong focus on hybrid IT and multi-cloud solutions
Exceptional messaging and storytelling skills, as well as the ability to create presentation aids
Creativity in go-to-market approaches and the ability to express CenturyLink’s stance on current hot topics in IT and cloud (multi-cloud management, network integration, etc.)
Experience with sales enablement – the creation of assets critical to allow sales to take consistent messages to market at various stages of the sales cycle
Experience with marcom and thought leadership – be proficient in creating pillar assets that can be used across a multitude of marketing vehicles (social, web, events, etc.)
Demonstrated experience and ability to build strong collaborative relationships across all levels of the organization
Incredible appetite and aptitude to learn new technologies, turn into solutions, distill clear/compelling messaging and evangelize internally and externally
Experience in marketing enterprise IT, data center solutions and deployment models (colocation/on and off-prem), managed services, security, etc. in the context of various sales segments, industries, regulations and regions
Excellent time management skills. Ability to drive the end-to-end execution of multiple projects simultaneously with minimal direction
Trained in Pragmatic Marketing is a plus
