The CenturyLink Virtualized Services Global Operations team is seeking customer focused, detail-oriented engineers that enjoy solving problems, delighting customers, and have backgrounds from a variety of different fields. Works with a small focused team responsible for production systems including NFV and SDN platforms based on OpenStack & VMware.
Technically responsible for a broad range of systems and services supporting everything from the physical layer, configuration & performance tuning throughout the stack, including integration with performance and fault systems.
Works with planning and architect teams to develop new technologies and enhance existing offerings related to our various service offerings.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or other related field or the equivalent in training and experience. Due to the highly technical nature of this position, continuing technical education is required.
Minimum six (6) years work experience in Linux systems administration, including advanced scripting, config, tuning & networking.
Willingness to work overtime, twenty-four (24) hour call as needed, and travel when required.
Minimum two (2) years Python language and debugging skills in operations and engineering environments or comparable scripting skills.
Experience communicating effectively, verbally and in writing, with technical and non-technical personnel.
Proven virtualization administration experience with Linux/KVM and VMware vSphere.
Strong knowledge of network concepts, IP, and Ethernet, subnetting, etc.
Experience with OpenStack administration and/or development in one or more core projects is required.
Experience configuring and administration of Zabbix, Splunk, syslog, and similar tools.
Minimum three (3) years systems deployment and automated bare-metal provisioning using tools such as Puppet and Ansible.
Strong knowledge of server and storage systems.
Experience with distributed storage/file systems such as Ceph a plus.
Programming experience related to system administration (Python, Perl, Ruby, Bash, and/or Go).
Experience with Docker container platform a plus.
Experience with TACACS and bastion/jump servers preferred.
Demonstrated expertise in network administration and troubleshooting (DNS, IPsec, BGP, etc).
Strong understanding of routers, switches, and firewalls (JunOS a plus)
