Job Summary


The CenturyLink Content Delivery Network (CDN) is one of the largest and fastest growing CDNs in the world. We are passionate about delivering high quality secure end user experiences over the Internet. The individual in this role will be responsible for evaluating customer demand and network utilization to ensure that sufficient network capacity is in place before it is needed. This requires analysis of current network designs, consumption trends and technology changes resulting in plans for efficient and timely deployment or removal of equipment. This role creates new network capacity solutions, assembles the required equipment budgets and manages the end-to-end projects. The ideal candidate is expected to be familiar with network planning principles and capable of acting as a team lead to ensure projects are completed in a timely manner.

Job Description

  • Applies detailed understanding of current network configuration and technology to ensure capacity and efficiency of the planned designs. May participate in definition of new network configurations, technologies, and best planning practices. May provide direction for the development of tools to monitor, manage, and report on the network.

  • Documents detailed technical methodology for installation of network equipment of moderate complexity, including written directions, graphical equipment layouts, and equipment topology.

  • Defines requirements, develops, implements and uses reporting procedures and methodologies to analyze network utilization and predict growth trends. Troubleshoots reporting errors and identifies data specific problems within large sets of data. Manually facilitates correction of reporting errors caused by data problems.

  • Prepares status/progress reports and updates management on projects. Participates in development of reports. May present new reports and summaries of network data to Management, Product Teams, and Network Planning. Train users in how to use these new tools and how they will benefit them.

  • Assists with the evaluation of new products to enable new service introduction, cost savings, and /or performance utilization under periodic supervision. May give input to Architecture and Engineering on Planning and Deployment equipment and network design requirements.

  • May act as lead and provide technical supervision to a cross-functional implementation team.

  • Participates in the development of plans to augment, optimize, and reconfigure the network as growth dictates. May participate in cross functional teams to give input to Architecture and Engineering on Planning and Deployment equipment and network design requirements.

Education Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED or 5 plus years of relevant job experience. Relevant job experience is described as:

  • Office – Sits 5 to 7 hours per day; Bend, reach, stoop and crouch; lift 10 lbs.
