Job Summary

  • Responsible for defining product strategy, developing and executing the product roadmap, managing financial growth and profitability, and developing detailed market requirements based in network and IT technologies for one or more product lines.

  • Participates in the development and lifecycle management of CenturyLink product portfolios.

  • Responsible for maximizing the competitiveness and financial performance of a product portfolio.

Job Description

  • Manages all aspects of the portfolio’s financials for growth, revenue, and profitability. Understands and actively manages all of the levers that impact financials including funnel, usage, opex, netex, capex, credits, pricing, churn, and company accounting practices – the CEO of their business.

  • Develops and articulates vision and market strategy across their product portfolio. Identifies market direction, what’s important to customers, where technology and features are evolving and where the company can effectively compete. Should have a working understanding of the technologies relevant to customers that buy our services including layer 2 and layer 3 networking.

  • Leads the development of new products and product features by understanding the market, writing detailed market and product requirements, developing financial justification, and championing the ask through leadership to market.

  • Prepares and delivers executive level presentations that include portfolio performance and portfolio development asks grounded in financial justification and business cases.

  • Manages specific customer opportunities as they relate directly to driving revenue for the portfolio. Negotiates business terms and conditions of customer contracts. Gathers and prioritizes customer requirements and benchmarks company products to competitor products to evangelize the portfolio roadmap.

  • Subject matter expert for portfolio including competition, market dynamics, points of differentiation, value proposition, and quote to cash processes.

  • Leads a matrixed team in the continued support of the growth and lifecycle management of the portfolio to dates and deliverables including product marketing plan, engineering, operations, development, and 3 rd party vendors and partners

  • Monitors customer and operational metrics for the portfolio and champions development, organizational, and process improvements in quote to cash processes to ensure a market leading customer experience.

  • Creates and deliver product related training across all organizations

  • Develops and maintains pricing and commercial constructs for product portfolios to maximize growth, profitability, and in line with market dynamics


  • 5-10+ years in industry relevant role

  • Bachelor's Degree, advanced degree a plus or equivalent experience

  • Ability to travel 10%

  • Business Acumen: Must have an intermediate understanding of company financial measures and financial modeling

  • Good organizational and “action accountability” management skills.

  • Ability to provide leadership for cross-functional teams.

  • Proactive and self-motivated – ability to drive projects and assignments.

  • Good written communication skills.

  • Negotiation skills and experience managing third-party vendor negotiations/relationships.

  • Drive execution of short and long term strategies to grow product portfolio.

  • Problem Solving: Advanced analytical skills. Must be able to work through complex issues with a methodical approach. Must be able to understand and distill data into actionable items. Must have advanced data management ability.

  • Knowledge of cloud, layer 2/3 WAN, networking solutions and other telecommunications and IT technology desired

    • Work Style: Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Must be detail oriented.
  • Ability to distill broad concepts and business strategies into structured product management/marketing plans.

  • Technical aptitude to understand product dynamics and recommend product enhancements.

  • Record of success and top-tier achievement in prior work and education experiences.
