Job Summary

The Technician II - Voice should understand Voice Network functions such as SS7 signaling or SIP protocols for Soft Switch or Circuit Switch Voice Platforms. With minimal supervision, performs tasks associated with the maintenance and installation and change of company voice network. With a solid understanding of telecommunications, the Voice Technician must have excellent soft skills when communicating via phone, email and in system ticketing notes. Have a working knowledge of Windows operating systems is expected.

Job Description

Essential Duties

· Escalates, for higher order support, to technical leadership and Management.

· Operate in multiple systems and databases as required.

  • Designs and provisions, voice circuits including both on-net and off-net basic routing network configurations.

  • Initiates capacity requests and tracks for completion based on deployment commit date.

  • Monitors, owns, drives, and resolves all problematic dependencies associated to customer orders to ensure customer commitment dates are met.

  • Validates orders for information accuracy based on internal company product ordering specifications.

  • Manages individual daily workload in alignment with revenue and customer commitments across multiple orders, systems and processes.

  • Interacts with others to achieve common goals and to foster a cooperative climate. Also works independently with regular supervision.

  • Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.

  • Requires a highly motivated and solutions driven individual that desires to expand their knowledge, as well as exhibits creativity and originality

  • Adapts and thrives in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment

  • Manages/facilitates issues to resolution

  • Demonstrated effectiveness to escalations/urgent-related matters

  • Knowledge of bandwidths from DS1 to OC192 and including ethernet VT1/STS configurations

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Reliable/Ability to work overtime as necessary

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Attention to detail and accuracy

  • Proven display of being energetic, positive, and having a customer-focused attitude

  • Team oriented - able to work well with others in a professional environment

  • Advanced problem-solving skills - ability to facilitate issue resolution

  • Experience in writing process documentation and implementation preferred

  • Basic knowledge of VoIP technologies

  • SQL and database knowledge helpful

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • 2 years of college or technical school in electronics or telecommunications preferred.

  • Entry level experience and/or knowledge of at least one of the three major technical disciplines: Transmission (DS1/DS3/SONET), Switching (circuit-switching/SS7) and TCP/IP (routers/higher-layer protocols).

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize workload.

  • Resourceful, innovative, and creative.

  • Ability to work extra hours as needed.

  • Potential to work 24x7 shift work, weekends and holidays as needed.

  • Must be willing to work on call via cell phone, including weekends or holidays to support customer escalations.
