The Lead Email Marketing Manager is responsible for driving the tactical direction of projects, strategy, development, and execution of both B2B and B2C Acquisition and Retention email marketing efforts. The Email Marketing Lead will also assist in Adhoc initiatives such as gap-closure campaigns, trigger based email campaigns (such as Cart/Site Abandons, ect), and manage email metrics including Omniture and/or Google Analytics and report on learnings accordingly.
The position is accountable for a variety of functions that require strong business acumen, marketing knowledge, understanding/management of internal processes, and a functional/technical knowledge of marketing automation.
Responsible for execution of email marketing initiative, supporting the company's reach, acquisition, and retention objectives.
Work closely with cross-functional teams such as Product, MARCOM, IT, eCommerce teams, and Segment Managers to create strategies for improving ROI, understanding of best practices in email space, execute, and measure integrated email programs to drive the business.
Partner with database marketing team to develop list criteria and segmentation for campaigns to increase the timeliness and relevance of customer communication.
Work with agency and email vendor to identify and troubleshoot problems, and identify and execute against enhancement opportunities
Conceptualize and initiate tests toward continually improving email KPIs across Email Marketing programs.
Thorough understanding of Marketing and campaign strategy and translate into creative brief for agency direction. Assess creative and provide feedback to agency to ensure the work is on brief.
Analyze campaign metrics to drive day-to-day business decisions and determine future initiatives.
Identify and deliver process improvements to increase speed to market.
Work with IT to create business requirements to resolve issues, data flows, or other discrepancies.
Main POC for email marketing initiatives for B2B and B2C products supported and will be responsible for driving applicable email programs.
Contribute to the Email Marketing team by continually investigating and implementing new methodologies/technologies, services and/or vendor solutions that enhance the email program objectives
Become recognized within the company as an expert on email marketing best practices; Monitor and stay ahead of industry trends and best practices.
Minimum of 5 years of Email/Direct Marketing experience required.
Experience with Marketing Automation; Marketo preferred
Excellent organizational and detail-orientation skills; ability to keep multiple balls in the air at once with high attention to details.
Strong analytical skills (Omniture preferred) -- comfortable using data to support marketing decisions; ability to glean intelligence and behavioral inferences from data
Excellent project management skills. Ability to manage both creative agency and email operations team.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Access Database experience
Strong understanding of SPAM compliance (CASL and GDPR).
Strong copywriting skills and experience in writing for online tactics.
Digital Marketing experience with emphasis on creative design.
Email A/B testing along with creative/segmentation optimizations
Experienced in briefing senior leadership on email creative, strategy, and performance.
Curiosity – about what our competitors are doing, about how our customers think, about how our products work – will be the driver of new breakthrough ways of doing things.
Ability to create high level email marketing automation programs (Drip, Nurture, marketing funnels/trigger programs).
