The Sr. Engineer (VoIP/Contact Center Network Planner ) plans and manages all network elements and facilities using input from forecasts, equipment utilization trends, technical and engineering requirements, input from other departments, and budgetary considerations associated with CTL network demand and requirements.
Responsible for monitoring, timing, sizing, and estimating network augments, migration and consolidation associated with Centurylink’s contact center platforms.
Monitors and anticipates capacity requirements in the network using available capacity utilization and forecast information including network inventory data, strategic planning data, growth trends and standard architectures, models and configurations
Creates jobs, determines funding requirements, participates in developing vendor requirements and works with vendor management to insure proper network element hardware, software and support meet objectives and works with project management and engineering to insure on-time in delivery, installation and turn-up of deployed network elements.
Verifies that all required databases are updated upon job completion.
Responsible for ensuring Strategy and Development provides architecture and handover documentation for network deployment including performance and capacity threshold monitoring capabilities.
Works with external vendors and internal customers on creating hardware and software solutions for network element replacements, augments or consolidations.
Assess and provides input to large customer deals to insure network can support impacts.
Liaison between Network Planning and Engineering, Vendor Technology management, Operations, Product, Sales, and Strategy and Development teams.
Supports and defines capacity requirements for transitioning to a cloud based infrastructure, using AWS, for federal CC applications. The Sr. Planning Engineer will assist in developing a new mode of operation for capacity management in this environment.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and relevant experience
6+ years of related experience
In depth knowledge of all aspects of TDM, Voice networks, VoIP, IP routers/switches, and capacity performance standards
General and/or specific knowledge of TDM and VoIP networks deployed within Centurylink’s voice network
General telecommunications knowledge
Proven ability to handle moderately complex planning/engineering assignments without direct supervision
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite specifically Excel and Access
Masters or Equivalent
