Job Summary

The responsibilities of this position will continue to grow as additional portions of the network are accredited and achieve operational status, and as additional customer groups are added to the network. Currently the position supports the operation, management, and defense of a nationwide fiber optic transport network and two geographically separated network support centers. The network is expected to sustain continual growth to include additional sites and customers across the life of the program.

The candidate would be responsible for analyzing, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing of laboratory network infrastructure and application components. He/She would also perform a wide variety of evaluation, maintenance, installation and training tasks to ensure the network performance meets customer requirements.

Job Description

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the basics behind the lab network and its workings (DNS, Security, IP Routing, Optic Connectivity, etc.)

  • Design, setup and configure complex switching environments

  • Assist in the design of multi-server environments including IP address schemes, DNS, WINS, Ether-Channel (Bonding), etc.

  • Configuring and installing client and server network software for upgrading and maintaining network and telecommunication systems.

  • Maintaining multi-site network operations and software applications

  • Manage assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives.

  • Troubleshooting malfunctions of network devices

  • Support second and third tier escalations for all operational outages in IP network

  • Document engineering solutions in accordance to industry and program standards

  • Conduct high-quality and comprehensive testing to prove viability of proposed engineering solutions


Bachelors or Equivalent in Computer Science or Engineering General
