The Business Development Manager will report directly to the VP/GM of CenturyLink’s Public Communications group and will be responsible for several critical workflows concentrated on attracting new and retaining existing contracts with Correctional facilities throughout the United States. Individual responsibilities will include capture management for new opportunities, working closely with technology partners to develop custom features and establish subcontracts for newly won opportunities, and program managing retention efforts for existing clients. This position requires a strong combination of verbal and written communication skills, matrix management skills, ability to distill technical information into understandable concepts, personal effectiveness both internally and with partners, and attention to detail, and is critical to achieving the group’s aggressive growth goals.
Capture Management. Review strategic opportunities sourced through structured procurement solicitations; map CenturyLink capabilities and key strengths against solicitation requirements. Work with technology partners to provide written responses to non-standard responses, and work closely with Technical Writing team for inclusion in final response.
Supplier management. Manage process of subcontracting with technology partners, mapping client contract requirements into subcontract language, and working with CenturyLink’s Sourcing group to execute agreements.
Supplier management. Work closely with Director National Operations to drive supplier development cycle and delivery for custom features.
Client retention. Maintain disciplined program management approach for customer retention; leading regular account reviews, gathering requirements for additional services needed/requested, and driving completion of business cases and written responses to clients.
Bachelor’s degree and or 7+ years’ experience in technology
Strong technical writing skills, including ability to distill highly technical information into easy-to-understand concepts
Ability to think strategically, understanding “questions behind the questions” and mapping CenturyLink strengths into specific responses to solicitation specifications
Outstanding attention to detail
Project management and ability to juggle multiple priorities
Personal effectiveness, matrix-managing SMEs to provide quality written inputs in a timely manner
Proven track record of a consistently achieving and out-performing targets
- Significant prior experience with structured procurements by state and/or county government clients very highly desired
