Job Summary

A role within the Global Security MSS SOC organisation responsible for operation, maintenance, and monitoring of network hardware and related control software providing a variety of managed security customer services.

Performs Event Management functions IT Service Management), monitoring, detection, and triage of security events and alerts in Splunk monitoring systems for all Global Security customers.

Ingress, implementation and egress of customer trouble and change requests for managed premise, cloud, NextGen UTM firewall, MDDoS and Threat Intelligence products.

Job Description

Monitoring, triaging and responding to SIEM alerts for customer security events. Investigating and resolving outage scenarios on firewall and DDoS products. Researching and implementing customer generated change requests for firewall and DDoS products

Creating incident cases and escalating to superordinate teams in accordance with time and severity-based

Responsible for operation, maintenance, and monitoring of network hardware and related control software providing a variety of customer services. Observes and controls the status and performance of all security components of company products and services.

Performs tasks associated with the installation, turn up and maintenance of CenturyLink security infrastructure.

Qualifications

Education to A-Level standard, with bias in Information Security, Information Technology, or related field.

Experience as a Technician in a telecommunications / physical and network security environment

Preferred firewall certifications / qualifications with Fortinet, Arbor and training / experience with Radware

Demonstrated proficiency exercising a sound depth and breadth of technical subject knowledge

Must be UK resident able to satisfy UK Government mandated criteria to obtain and retain specific vetting status at one of several levels of clearance – for example BPSS / SC. Additionally, must qualify for any specifically mandated security clearances dictated on a per-customer basis, for example, Non Police Personnel Vetting Level 2

Experience in a security operations environment (limited security Event Management responsibilities), or in-progress formal information and network security training, or completed CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, or SANS GSIF.

Ability to multi-task during events

Ability to communicate effectively with managers, customers and vendors on escalation status

Ability to manage technical workload and engage senior technicians and management as appropriate

Ability to maintain a solid working relationship including collaborative technical activities with peers

Competent writing and verbal communication skills required

Good analytical and problem-solving skills

Attention to detail with good organizational capabilities.

Ability to prioritize with good time management skills.

Ability to work shift work needed

Ability to work extra hours as needed
