Job Summary

CenturyLink is growing its commercial contract organisation in Europe. We are seeking individuals with appropriate experience and education, having two to five years of commercial contracts or subcontracts experience in a structured commercial contracts environment. CenturyLink clients are predominantly enterprise clients, but may include wholesale and government customers.

This is an exciting opportunity to provide to both pre and post sales contract management, with an element of autonomy within corporate guidelines, working within a geographically distributed team.

We are seeking applicants who can demonstrate a basic knowledge of the different types of contract models and how to use them; be able to draft and negotiate contract and subcontract agreements, and make business decisions and recommendations in accordance with the corporate strategy involving contractual, legal, operational and financial issues; ensuring flow-down of T&Cs to suppliers by working closely with our vendor management team, ensuring contractual risk is identified and addressed, and contracts are compliant with corporate policies.

Job Description

Duties will include the responsibility to:

  • Contribute to RFP’s and cover the applicable terms and conditions

  • Assess the optimal contracting vehicle to use (Customer’s, CenturyLink negotiated, CenturyLink standard MSA)

  • Communicate flow downs (and flow ups) with the Vendor team on bespoke contracts and ensure these are addressed before contract signature

  • Ensure that the master contract is back to back with sub contracts where commercially appropriate and that any risk gaps and/or deviations from standards are approved by the relevant stakeholders in accordance with the appropriate governance processes

  • Manage and mitigate risks in the sale – understanding of P&L impact

  • Contribute to appropriate pre-submission approval for submission within the business.

  • Negotiate the contract with Clients and/or support the CenturyLink lead negotiator

  • Provide a contract summary reflecting final negotiated position to the delivery team

In Life Contract Management

The initial priority being to commercially review selected contracts and ensure risks are understood and mitigations in place. The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Be the Commercial lead on designated contracts

  • Support project teams through delivery, track any contract changes from the baseline and ensure compliance to the change control process

  • Conduct regular Commercial Reviews using standard commercial tools and develop a plan to optimise profitability.

  • Create a risk register with mitigations and owners

  • Attend customer contract meetings and support account teams in customer discussions

  • Work with the account team and internal teams (i.e. finance, billing, service management, projects) to ensure contract compliance

  • Play an active role in resolution of contract issues and provide commercial ownership to any disputes

  • Provide commercial guidance on impact analysis of change control procedures

  • Complete appropriate Change Control Notes.

  • Manage contractual exit requirements.

  • Business oriented, financial acumen

  • Ability to work confidently under remote management

  • Commercial creativity coupled with attention to detail

  • Numerate and good analytical skills

  • Can look at contract issues from various perspectives, e.g. customer, operational, legal etc

  • Highly organized

  • Ability to prioritize with good time management skills

  • Experience in Telecoms, IT or outsourcing industries desirable but not essential

  • Membership/certification from the IACCM will also be an asset.
