Job Summary

As a member of the Advanced Solutions Engineering Team, the Enterprise Architect (EA) is accountable for technical sales supporting complex engagements which include multiple CenturyLink products and services. The EA is a resource that is centralized within specific regions and aligns to Sales Leadership to design and own complex solutions. The EA is accountable for sales of large, complex, multi-product solutions to Enterprise clients across North America. Specifically, the EA will lead the solutioning work of all generalist and specialist pre-sales engineers and architects on opportunities that can span the entire CenturyLink Product portfolio including cloud, managed hosting, security, managed networks, IT consulting, outsourcing, network connectivity, unified communications, collaboration, and all others. Essential to success will be aligning CenturyLink solutions with each client’s business growth and digital transformation initiatives.

Job Description

  • Generate, identify, and design complex customer solutions

  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, topics, methodologies, and core technologies in order to assimilate customer needs and design appropriate technical solutions

  • Act as a champion internally, translating industry best practices, trends, and customer needs back to peer groups in Operations, Marketing, Product, Service Delivery, Architecture/Engineering, etc. to facilitate ongoing, actionable improvements

  • Lead CenturyLink’s efforts in requirements gathering, due diligence, solution development, financial costing, SOW and proposal generation activities that are unique to large, complex opportunities

  • Engagement on RFP responses with very short timelines / deadlines are common

  • Document solution components in a timely manner while ensuring acceptable level of detail, data integrity, and accountability.

  • Work independently and as part of a team. Willingness to take the initiative to facilitate teamwork within the various organizations of the company to serve the customer.

  • Available to travel for internal and external meetings / presentations (50% travel is often required)

  • A “get it done” attitude as related to the execution of large-scale endeavors

  • Work with Product Management to help drive appropriate product enhancements


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience; 10+ years of experience as a Sales Engineer, Solution Architect or consulting role in the Enterprise Marketplace. Experience with technical design / development, sales, support and consulting.

  • Business acumen to discuss business needs and challenges with customer “C” level executives

  • Expert problem-solving skills and ability to methodically understand and resolve complex issues with experience leading and selling large customer solutions

  • Deep knowledge of CenturyLink’s products and services

  • Demonstrated ability to focus ambiguous customer needs into specific deliverable requirements

  • Detail oriented and possess advanced analytical skills

  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (oral, written and presentation)

  • Ability to multi-task and work multiple projects simultaneously. Capability to schedule time with flexibility to handle varying workload, and still meet tight deadlines

  • Proven ability to work with multiple levels of decision making with experience creating Statements of Work, cost modeling, proposals, working with 3 rd party contractors

  • Proficient with common office applications, including MS Outlook, MS Excel, and MS Visio, Salesforce, Big Machines and other.
