Job Summary

The Manager of Local Network Planning & Capacity manages and motivates a planning team for the Local Planning Organization. This manager is responsible for a team whose success is driven by process optimization, innovation, and collaboration. This position is responsible for achieving network capacity expectations and build-out objectives in and for all network architectures CenturyLink owns (office planning, OSP/Access, IOF/Transport, & Core/Data.

The team is responsible for the entire business case for the implementation of new network requirements or modifications on existing structures. The Manager of Local Network Planning & Capacity is responsible for delivering world class customer service while delivering market leading IP customer solutions.

Job Description

  • Capability of understanding and communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical individuals

  • Direct and lead 10-15 direct reports to achieve goals

  • Manage within capital budget and drive network transformation

  • Ability to manage multiple large complex projects that require cross-organizational coordination to achieve results

  • Facilitate and drive transformational change across multiple disciplines and functional organizations

  • Effectively communicate and partner with all levels of the organization, including cross-functional

  • Responsible for talent development through empowerment, driving a “culture of learning”, and actively engaging in employee’s development opportunities

  • Ability to grab on to and enable a culture of accountability (See it, Own it, Solve it, Do it!)

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent education and experience

  • 1+ years previous supervisory / leadership experience preferred

  • Typically 5-7 years related experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Understanding of transmission parameters, equipment transfers, modulation schemes, multiplex schemes and switching functions

  • Proficient in creating/presenting business cases including justifications

Preferred

  • Experience in Telecommunication Engineering, Network Planning, or related fields

  • Understanding of digital switching topologies and architectures

  • Understanding of Core Data network, to include ATM and Ethernet Technologies

  • Understanding of Access and Last Mile Network Solutions

  • Understanding of TOADM Technologies and functionality

  • Experience/ working knowledge of software defined networks (SDN)/ network function virtualization (NFV)

  • Familiarity with technologies and network topologies for the delivery market leading IP customer solutions
