Purpose of Position

CenturyLink EMEA is increasing the size of our cloud professional services team. We are recruiting an experienced Cloud Automation Architect who will help Customers achieve their digital transformation goals by automating the build of their cloud environments to meet their business needs on Amazon Web Services.

Minimum Requirements

  1. Minimum 10 years’ experience in IT services and 2 years’ experience of automating application environment builds in cloud environments

  2. Experience with implementing and supporting greenfield and/or migration projects using public cloud

  3. You have subject matter expertise regarding IT systems spanning servers, operating systems, databases, web servers, middleware, networking, storage, compute, virtualisation and security

  4. Demonstrable experience automating environment builds on cloud platforms and a passion for keeping up on the latest services and technology advancements on Amazon Web Services

  5. You will be delivering the automation scripts from the low-level design on a large-scale infrastructure deployments for applications on AWS

  6. You have extensive knowledge of AWS and have demonstrable experience of delivering automation for Customers

  7. You have in depth experience of automation tools used with AWS

  8. Focusing on one or more strategic customers to ensure a successful delivery of value through the use of automation

  9. Leading and being deeply involved in the hands-on technical delivery of customer projects

  10. Driving automation best practices by

  11. Producing white papers and best practices guides

  12. Mentoring other fellow Cloud Automation Architects, Cloud Design Architects and operations

  13. Producing public facing content such as blog posts and presentations

  14. Implementing PoC’s making use of innovative technology by evaluating technological trends i.e. containers, micro-services using serverless, etc.

  15. You can’t stand doing things manually. You live to automate and constantly improve your automation and sharing your knowledge across a team

  16. You have knowledge and experience using agile or scrum methodologies to deliver programmes of work

  17. You like learning new things and working with smart people

  18. You have the ability to obtain UK security clearances

  19. Experience using and developing using JSON/YAML/HCL (e.g. Cloud Formation, Terraform, Ansible etc.)

  20. Experience of using Jenkins, Github / GitLab & testing frameworks for infrastructure and applications

  21. Have experience supporting large infrastructure migrations to the cloud

  22. Excellent technical documentation & communication skills

  23. Experience working within a team and providing advice for other team members as well as seeking input from other team members

Desired Attributes

  1. Coding experience with JavaScript, JSON, YAML, Bash, Python, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Terraform and working with APIs

  2. Demonstratable experience in writing test plans and testing automation scripts

  3. Experience working with popular Linux distributions and Microsoft Windows Server

  4. AWS Speciality certification: Advanced Networking or Security

  5. AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional

  6. Knowledge of containers and serverless

  7. AWS logging and monitoring techniques

  8. You are familiar with many database architectures and technologies


Bachelors or Equivalent in Computer Science or Engineering General
