The Lead Managed Services Unix Engineer / Technical Service Engineer (TSE) is a technical expert working as part of the Global Managed Service Platform team. The role will be working a standard 40 hour week Monday to Friday with flexible start times between 07:00 and 10:00, out of hours knowledge support is also a requirement to support the global follow the sun team and to deliver first class support to our customers.
The Lead Unix Engineer is primarily responsible for complex Incident resolution, root cause analysis problem management working with our 3 rd party vendors. Also ensuring the Client and tickets are up to date at all times on incident progress and escalating critical issues/outages to the Major Incident Management and Operations Management teams and as per procedures.
They are also responsible for helping plan, schedule and perform successful execution of complex nonstandard Client Change Requests in line with SLOs.
Daily review and action of open cases; updating Operations Management on current cases and their status as appropriate and providing comprehensive handovers to global peers at the end of each shift.
Logging of cases to 3rd party vendors requesting assistance on unresolved issues.
Working with the CTL Client base to organize and schedule compliance items such as hardware and software updates including firmware revisions and OS and Application patching.
Practical experience in troubleshooting of Hosted Unix and VMware solutions in the Managed Hosting Industry
Proven experience of RedHat configuration and troubleshooting and associate RHEL Certifications
Comprehensive VMWare Virtualisation configuration and troubleshooting experience and associated VMware Certifications (VCP required)
Familiarity with deploying and managing Public Cloud solutions (AWS, Azure desirable but not required)
Automation tools and scripting knowledge
DNS, FTP, NFS configuration and troubleshooting
Server performance troubleshooting
